The Down Low
Julie Allemand is an example of a perfectly executed "draft and stash" by the Fever. This is when a WNBA team drafts a young, promising international player and allows them to continue to develop their skills overseas before joining the WNBA. Allemand, from Belgium, was drafted by the Fever in 2016 but did not immediately join the league. She continued to play overseas in France and Belgium, including on the Belgian national team with buddy Emma Meesseman. When Julie joined the league in 2020 she was READY, quickly establishing herself as a budding assist queen. She finished the season with the second-best assist record in the league, with the second-best 3 point percentage to boot. It is clear she will be a fixture in the league for years to come.
Highlight Reel
Notable Quotables
Julie Allemand spoke out bravely about her struggles with mental health after a disappointing loss in the 2020 Olympics:
I know that I am still not healed. I know it will take days, months before everything is better.
