Content Note: This episode was recorded prior to recent reporting on allegations by NWSL players Sinead Farrelly and Mana Shim of sexual coercion and harassment by North Carolina Courage head coach Paul Riley and institutional failures by the NWSL to stop it. As such, you will not hear these allegations discussed on this podcast. What you will hear are stories from Jenna about the NWSL players, and why she roots for them on and off the field. We hope for this podcast to be a celebration of the athletes of the NWSL and WNBA, rather than the institutions.
I and the Venus Sports staff, as well as my guest today Jenna Tonelli, stand in solidarity with the players of the NWSL who have been subjected to institutional failures by their leadership and left unprotected from abuse.
Learn more about the allegations and the athletes standing up to prevent further systemic abuse from happening again in the NWSL:
- ‘This guy has a pattern’: Amid institutional failure, former NWSL players accuse prominent coach of sexual coercion (Meg Linehan, The Athletic)
- NWSL Players, Fans React to Bombshell Report of Abusive Coach (Jenna Tonelli, Nets Republic)
Organizations we discussed:- Welcome to Chinatown is a grassroots initiative to support Chinatown businesses and amplify community voices that generates much needed momentum to preserve one of New York City's most vibrant neighborhoods.
- DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.

What is WNBA Life Coaching?
Transcript
Hello, and welcome to WNBA Life Coaching. My name is Robocoko, and I want to be your WNBA life coach.
What does that mean? That means I want to identify the perfect WNBA player for you to become a superfan of. I want to find that right player that you can cheer for when they come off the bench; the player that you'll boo the refs when they call a foul because she has never fouled in her career; a player where we can share their best highlights and watch their dances on TikTok. That is what I want for you.
I take a results-oriented and holistic approach to picking your favorite player. An athlete is not just about who they are on the court, and neither are you. We go past the stats and talk about the vibes. We look at hobbies, highlights, baby photos, and pet photos — not 'cause we need to, but because we want to.
So step into my office. We have candles courtesy of Burnt Wax by A'ja Wilson, we have plants provided by plant mom Sylvia Fowles, and of course cupcakes courtesy of Kahleah Copper, 'cause it's close to her birthday, so it's time to celebrate.
So join us for WNBA Life Coaching, new podcast out soon from Venus Sports.
