Searching for their first Championship * In a deep always the bridesmaid never the bride phase where they keep being an incredible regular season team but can't get to the title * Unreal home court advantage because it is impossible to get to Uncasville, CT * The whole team is dating each other * DiJonai Carrington is probably the most stylish player in the league Downsides: will immediately claim #disrespeCT at the slightest criticism
    The Dallas Wings Category is... Young and/or fun * The youngest team in the league with a lot of talent but also a lot of chaos * Leading scorer Arike Ogunbowale finds it impossible to not hit game-winners and has embraced her role as their franchise player by speaking out for trans kids in Texas * Relatively likely you'll hear Marina Mabrey drop an f-bomb on national tv Downsides: GM Greg Bibb is my nemesis
    The Indiana Fever Category is... Underdogs * Deep in their Flop Era but coach Marianne Stanley will still yell at you if you assume they are going to lose * Waived like half their team in the offseason and just drafted a million rookies so who really knows how it is going to go but I think it will be fun * Recently brought in hype-woman and meme machine Jazmine Jones Downsides: Some people like to watch their teams consistently win and that's not really the vibe here
    The Las Vegas Aces Category is... Searching for their first Championship * 2020 MVP A'ja Wilson is a consistent delight who you will see dancing when she's not sinking elbow jumpers * New Coach Becky Hammon is making her triumphant return to the WNBA and getting paid big bucks for it * Has been at the top of the league for the last few years but didn't quite make it but they are READY to finally get their first chip Downsides: Used to have big villain energy but may lose that vibe with Liz Cambage and Bill Laimbeer gone and tbh I think we will miss it
    The Los Angeles Sparks Category is... Former Champions * Features some of the league's most dynamic personalities in DJ Liz Cambage, Chennedy Carter (who is literally nicknamed Hollywood), and energizer bunny Brittney Sykes * Madam President Nneka Ogwumike runs the player's association with strength and grace * Prior champs working to regain their former glory Downsides: Derek Fisher knows what he did

Former Champions * Your last season to watch superstar, plant mom, and future mortician Sylvia Fowles!!! * Perpetual Coach of the Year candidate Cheryl Reeve who hires an all-female staff!!! * Trans activist leading with authenticity Layshia Clarendon!!! * Angel McCoughtry playing a sax!!! Downsides: At some point we will have to accept that Maya Moore(!!!) probably isn't coming back

Searching for their first Championship; Young and/or Fun * Well run organization that seems dedicated to treating its players like the world-class athletes they are * New Head Coach Sandy Brondello hired her husband as her assistant and that sits right with me * Betnijah Laney gets significantly better year over year and if she keeps this up she will be the best basketball player on planet earth by 2025 Downsides: Your feelings on magnanimous billionaires may vary
    The Phoenix Mercury Category is... Former Champions * Have somehow amassed a superteam that has fans PSYCHED * Diana Taurasi is considered by many to be the GOAT and attempts to bully anyone on the court including the refs if that is your vibe * Historically queer icons winning a championship with two couples plus the icon BG herself Downsides: Currently makes me very sad whenever I think about this team and I hope things get better

Former Champions * Sue Bird (you may have heard of her) is taking her victory lap * My queen Gabby Willimas signed with them in the offseason * Has an all-female ownership group. * Breanna Stewart (you may have heard of her) plays truly beautiful basketball and makes truly goofy faces when doing so Downsides: With multiple championships recently and big names feels like a basic bitch choice but I still respect you

Former Champions * Elena Delle Donne is back baby for the first time since her 2019 MVP run!!! * Led by activist and ultimate teammate Natasha Cloud who should be permitted to run the city if she wants to * Rookie Shakira Austin is increasing the league's cat representation with Katerina Downsides: Coach Thibault is setting up his son to take over as coach when he retires and I hate
    In Conclusion… Why You Should Support in General * To support the players. Icons. Activists. Athletes. Queerness, blackness, diversity, and womanhood (although not all players identify as women) is openly celebrated. They are paid pennies compared to other athletes and still just nail it all the time?! * To dunk on misogynists. There is a group of men on the internet that seems to spend hours every day finding WNBA content and commenting “no one cares”. Make them feel even lonelier by supporting the WNBA. * It’s super accessible. You can watch all the games for the entire season for $25 on League Pass!!! Games are affordable and easy to sit close and you should go if you can!!! * If you like Basketball. They are playing it and they are very good at it!!!
